SS13 Sneak Preview #2: Merrell Mix Master Low Waterproof & Rant Trainers

It's been just over a week since our first Spring/Summer 2013 Sneak Preview, so it's about time we offered up another one methinks! As always when we start bringing you gear sneaky peaks the weather always seems to take a turn for the worst in the opposite direction of the season we're looking at. Today is no different, we're looking ahead to Spring/Summer just as the weather reports possible minus temperatures and the possibility of snow over the weekend, but we shall soldier on nonetheless!

Lets kick start this rather misty Thursday with a bit more footwear, today in the shape of the Merrell Mix Master Low Waterproof Trainer. The Mix Master is an 'in between' type of trainer, it's not quite a barefoot shoe, but it's midsole/outsole construction ensures a minimalist approach. It's been constructed with a fabric and synthetic upper, keeping the weight down. The bellows tongue ensures you can hit the trail without having to worry about debris working its way in. Reflective details give you increased visibility when running in low light. Inside you've got an EVA anatomical footbed that's been treated with Aegis antimicrobial solution, as too is the waterproof membrane, helping to cut down on pesky odours and provide a impermeable but breathable barrier. The trainer also features a 2mm EVA insole for excellent comfort and good shock absorption.

Moving down below to the Mix Master's midsole/outsole construction, it features a 4mm heel drop and a Merrell Float midsole which is 10% thinner and 25% lighter to provide more feel and ground control akin to a barefooting experience. Merrell's Air Cushion in the heel again provides a healthy amount of shock absorption and adds stability. A 1mm forefoot shock absorption plate maintains the forefoot stability of the trainer and protects the foot by distributing pressure equally. On the bottom the trainers have a Merrell Mix sole/sticky rubber sole, for good traction on slippery and uneven terrains. The Merrell Men's Mix Master Low Waterproof Trainers RRP at £100 and we've got them coming in the colours Navy and Black.

Second on the table for a sneaky peak today we've got something from Merrell's 'Sport Casual' range, the Men's Rant Shoe. A bit more of a laid back style compared to the Mix Master, the Rant has a more conversey look and feel to it, making it perfect for all round wear. It's strobel construction offers maximum flexibility and optimum wearer comfort. It's been made with a canvas and full grain leather upper, giving it sleek and stylish aesthetics. Inside the shoe there's a Twill lining that has been given the antimicrobial solution treatment to help keep any nasty odours at bay. The Rant also features an EVA removable footbed.

Into the engine of the shoe with the midsole and outsole construction, a moulded nylon arch shank gives the shoe stability throughout and Merrell Air Cushion in the heel adds shock absorbency and more foot stability, optimising wearer comfort to the higher echelons. Down the bottom the shoe features the Merrell Rant/Sticky rubber sole, providing fantastic durability and of course good traction. The Merrell Men's Rant Shoe RRP's in at £60 and is arriving into us in three colours; Denim Blue, Bracken and Aluminium/Navy.
