Women's Synthetic Jackets: The Merrell Esker and the Jack Wolfskin River Falls Jackets

We've paid quite a lot of attention to down insulation so far over the last couple of months, because, well, it's flipping warm! But as we all know, living in Blighty ensures it's fair share of wetness, usually in copious amounts, and soggy down is unhappy down. So if your looking for a jacket suitable for all weathers that you can wear outside when its chucking it down in the Winter months, a synthetic insulated jacket is well worth having a look at. Of course Down jackets are superb when temperatures get into the minus figures or when you know it isn't going to rain. You can even stick on a waterproof over your down layer if your a tad concerned the heavens may unleash. But it's synthetic Thursday today, so here's a couple of new synthetic jackets we've got in this Autumn/Winter...

First up we have the Merrell Women's Esker Jacket. Merrell have found a fantastic mix of style and performance in their range and the Esker is no exception. The jacket uses Merrell's own Opti Shell waterproofing fabric, for great protection against wetter weathers. Opti Warm insulation inside provides you with a warm and cosy shell, ready for the Winter months. The Esker features a removable faux fur trim and a quilted conductor fleece back panel to add warmth. The stand up collar gives extra protection against against the wind and rain.

At the front of the jacket there's dual flap pockets for plenty of room to store all your accessories, plus the button detail gives it stylish and fashionable aesthetics. The drawcord adjustable hem allows for a custom fit and the Esker has an overall centre back length of 26" for a good amount of back coverage. The Merrell Women's Esker Jacket costs £161.99 and comes in the colour Boulder Heather.

Second up on Synthetic Thursday is the Jack Wolfskin Women's River Falls Jacket. The jackets Texapore Smoothridge fabric offers waterproof protection along with a smooth yet robust finish. Equipped with a Polyfibre fill insulation and a Nanuk 300 highloft lining, the River Falls is sure to be a classic Winter warmer this season. To help keep the warmth in and for a plush look, it features a faux fur trim around the hood. If pockets are your thing, then you will be inundated with places to store all your goodies with 4 hip pockets, 1 inner pocket and a secret pocket for more valuable items.
